I’m often inspired in my craft when I have time to relax, rejuvenate and explore nature. Being outdoors in the natural world restores my soul and gives me the boost to power through the busy days of running a business. On our recent trip to Salt Spring Island, exploring the island and getting back to nature away from the hustle and bustle was high on our list of things to do. From hiking and investigating tidal pools, looking for wild mushrooms and other flora and fauna, the unbridled joy of seeing a bald eagle up close, and taking the time to just commune with nature and experience the peace and quiet of our surroundings were some of the highlights of our time on the island.
SSI is a magical place located in the Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the B.C. mainland. This little island is a slice of heaven filled with the beauty of nature and loads of local artisans and crafts people doing what they love. Home to Salt Spring Island Cheese Company, Salt Spring Island Ales, Salt Spring Island Vineyards, Sacred Mountain Lavender Farm, Salt Spring Island Bread Company, Salt Spring Island and Kama Soap Companies plus myriads of artisans, potters, and farm stands full of fresh local eggs, meat and veggies.
Salt Spring Island stole a little piece of my heart! We hope to make it back real soon.
